9th Meeting of the IOBC-WPRS Working Group "Landscape Management for Functional Biodiversity", Milan, Italy.
Aims &
Topics
9th Meeting of the IOBC-WPRS Working Group "Landscape Management for Functional Biodiversity", 15-18 March 2022, Milan, Italy.Considering public concern about the decline of biodiversity and the role of agriculture and urban environment in contributing to this decline, the Working Group acts as a platform for exchange of concepts and research results. While intensive management practices, are standard practice in conventional farming systems, their undesirable side effects are increasingly recognized. There is consequently a growing interest for a transition towards more ecologically-based methodologies, but there remain still many scientific challenges.
The aim of the meeting is to bring together the latest insights on current topics in landscape management for functional biodiversity, including the management for multiple ecosystem services, the identification of promising crop and non-crop management options to support biodiversity-based pest management, and initiatives to meet the challenge to halt the ongoing decline of important farmland species. This moment will be important to identified promising areas for future researches.

Aims &
Topics
HPIS 2020, International Hemipteran-Plant Interactions Symposium, 02-04 December 2020, Melbourne, Australia.
The HPIS is an interdisciplinary, international congress, bringing together researchers who study phytophagous piercing/sucking insects, their complex interactions with their host plants, environment and pathogen transmission.
The congress will bring together entomologists with expertise on phytophagous hemipteran insects (Orders Hemiptera and Thysanoptera) and their endosymbionts, plant biologists and physiologists with expertise on plant defences and responses to hemipteran feeding, and plant pathologists with expertise on transmission of plant pathogens by hemipterans. It will facilitate an exchange of ideas and foster collaborations across disciplines, countries to strengthen our understanding of hemipteran biology, ecology, spread and economic importance.

The general goal of this meeting is to promote the research, development, implementation, and training of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) systems in protected crops, as well as promoting cooperation between scientists, advisors and producers working in this field. France has both temperate and mediterranean climate, this is why we are happy to welcome you for the meeting on integrated control in protected crops gathering temperate AND mediterranean climate.
Proposed topics:
  • New natural enemies
  • New pests
  • Food supplementation
  • Role of the plant in IPM (induced and/or genetic plant resistance, plant nutrition)
  • Biocontrol:
    • Research impact: adoption rate (% growers using, why, why not, economic approaches)
    • Microbes (biopesticides, biostimulants)
  • IPM and environment (light etc.)
  • Microbiotes around roots, plants or parasites which help plants to defend themselves
