Short CV of L. Adriana Escudero-Colomar

L. Adriana Escudero-Colomar is a research scientist in entomology at the Institute for Food and Agricultural Research and Technology (IRTA) which depends on a local government, Generalitat de Catalunya, in Spain (http://www.irta.es). She started working in citrus tree pests focussed in mites. Afterwards, she reached her PhD degree for the Polytechnic University of Valencia and worked during many years in this institution regarding biological control of mites in vegetable crops. Nowadays, she is working on IPM in fruit trees and her main objectives are; the improvement of the biological control of P. ulmi in apple orchards,  the study of the biology and ecology of the Mediterranean fruit fly (medfly) in the NE of Spain and the research on alternative control methods to chemical ones. Her unit is currently working on pest distribution at orchard level and at area-wide basis, on the overwintering behaviour of medfly in the north border of its distribution area and on the improvement of the attractants and the assessment of the best methodology to apply mass trapping and bait stations at field level.

In 2004 she joined the IOBC WG “Integrated Protection in Fruit Crops” and became the convenor of the SG “Pome fruit arthropods” in 2008.
