Short CV of Antonio Franceschini

Antonio Franceschini is full professor of Plant Pathology at the Department of Plant Protection of the University of Sassari (Italy). Since 1990, its scientific activity concerns studies on diseases of forest trees, mainly Quercus species. In particular, the decline phenomena of cork oak have been studied, highlighting aetiological and epidemiological aspects and outlining the most appropriate prevention strategies. His unit is working mainly on mycocoenosis of Quercus spp., with three groups dealing with biology, epidemiology and control of pathogens and endophytes involved in stress events, antagonists and their bioactive metabolites for biological control, and ectomycorrhizal communities.

Antonio Franceschini participate to the meetings of the IOBC WG “Integrated Protection in Quercus sp. Forests” since 1994.
