Short CV of Solveig Haukeland

Dr. Solveig Haukeland is a nematologist specialising on nematodes as biocontrol agents of invertebrates. She has a PhD from the University of Reading UK and works at Bioforsk, Norwegian Institute for Agricultural and Environmental Research, based in Ås just south of Oslo. Her main interest is on practical field use of nematodes as biocontrol agents and also on the interactions between nematodes and their invertebrate hosts. In recent years much of her research has focussed on weevils (Otiorhynchus sulcatus) in strawberries and on the invasive ‘Iberian slug’ (Arion lusitanicus). The research on slugs has also lead to an interest in the role of slugs as intermediate hosts of parasites (nematodes and trematodes). Her international background (Tanzania and UK) has led to collaboration with SUA (Sokoine University of Agriculture) in Tanzania.

Solveig Haukeland has been the Convenor for the IOBC-WPRS sub-group on slugs and snails since March 2010.
